 Job Title:Admitting Supervisor - Full Time Day Shift

 Description:

The Admitting Supervisor Organizes workflow, oversees day-to-day operations, and manages personnel, equipment, and supplies to ensure efficient functioning, quality services, and cost effectiveness of assigned sections within the Admitting Department.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:     

  • Staffing and directing daily work activities: Identifying and planning for short and long-term staffing needs and proactively taking appropriate actions.  Prepares employee schedules and assigns work to staff.
  • Staff supervision: Supervises and maintains an effective team of employees. Monitors and manages employee performance. Acts as an expert resource, assisting staff with problems and questions and troubleshoots complex issues.
  • Training: Develops, coordinates, and evaluates training programs for all departmental functions including training of new employees. Coordinates new hires’ orientation, on-boarding, and training schedule; ensures each new hire is given a training schedule that is followed; follows-up with new hires and makes training adjustments as needed. Coaches employees to develop and improve skills.
  • Provides technical coverage:   During short staffing or as needed, performs staff admitting functions such as registration and insurance verification.
  • Procedures and Standards: Assists Manager to establish and update standards, procedures, and policies. Monitors employee compliance with department and hospital procedures.
  • Customer Service: Resolves patient complaints, concerns, or issues.

Required Qualifications: 

  • High school Diploma or GED
  • At least three years of Admitting experience
  • At least one year of supervisory or lead experience
  • Knowledge of Admitting policies and procedures
  • Previous experience with admitting computer applications and common office automation systems (email, Word, Excel, etc)
  • Experience with training adults
  • Typing skills (minimum 40 wpm)

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor degree preferred
  • Medical terminology
  • Knowledge of Medicaid programs
  • Patient Accounting or Insurance industry experience
